According to reports, BYD President Wang Chuanfu recently revealed at the shareholders’ meeting that as of the end of May this year, driven by the sales of new energy vehicles such as Qin and E6, the sales of BYD's new energy passenger vehicles have exceeded 6,000, and orders for new energy buses have also been made. It has reached 5,000 vehicles and is expected to deliver 4,000 vehicles during the year. The total sales of new energy vehicles will exceed 10,000 vehicles.

Wang Chuanfu said that in order to ensure the timely delivery of orders for new energy vehicles, BYD is planning to expand its battery capacity, and is expected to build a new battery plant at the Shenzhen Kengzi base, which will be one of the largest power battery factories in the world.

At present, BYD's new energy vehicles include plug-in hybrid vehicles Qin, pure electric vehicles e6, dual-mode electric vehicles F3DM and pure electric passenger cars k9 a total of four models. With Beijing, Shanghai, and other cities opening up new energy automobile policies this year, BYD has seized the opportunity to successfully “break the ice” in the two major new energy strategic markets in Shanghai and Beijing, especially BYD Qin. Since its listing at the end of last year, it has kept up with the rapid economic growth of the policy. .

In April of this year, sales of BYD new energy vehicles increased 10 times year-on-year. In May, sales of BYD's Qinyue broke 1,000 for the first time, reaching 1,008 units. From January to May, Qin's cumulative sales were 4,302 units, and nationwide orders exceeded 8,000 units. In addition, BYD e6 sold 253 units in May this year, and cumulative sales reached 1,134 units in the first five months. It is worth mentioning that this year BYD's new energy bus orders for about 5,000 vehicles, is expected to deliver 4,000 vehicles during the year. This shows that the total sales of BYD new energy vehicles have exceeded 10,000 vehicles.

As BYD's new energy vehicle sales climb, the demand for batteries will increase. At present, BYD has a battery plant with a capacity of 1.6GWh/year in Huizhou, ranking first in the country. However, in order to ensure timely delivery of orders for new energy vehicles, BYD is planning to expand its battery capacity. It is reported that BYD is planning a 6GWh/year-old battery plant at the Shenzhen Kengzi base, which will be one of the largest power battery factories in the world. The first phase of the new plant will be put into operation gradually in September this year. At least 1.5GWh of new production capacity will be added during the year.

In addition, Wang Chuanfu said that in addition to the existing new energy passenger vehicles and new energy public transportation systems, the future layout of BYD will be planned to launch in the future including inter-city operations, urban sanitation, e-commerce logistics, urban building streams, and private cars. And the city's electrification solutions, including mines, terminals (ports), airports, warehousing and other special fields.
