On September 12, 2012, Malvern Instruments Corporation held the global launch of the latest product of the Zetasizer series, and the latest member of the Dynamic Light Scattering (DLS) instrument system, which is at the forefront of the market, was officially launched. The conference was broadcast live on the Internet to customers and partners all over the world within 24 hours. The new high-profile Zetasizer Nano ZSP offers increased sensitivity while adding the unique features of protein measurement and micro-rheological measurement.

Zetasizer Nano series is a compact light scattering instrument. Its outstanding performance and simple operation make it the darling of industry and academia for nearly a decade. This advantage is also reflected in the new Zetasizer Nano ZSP. However, what makes the Zetasizer Nano ZSP unique is its unique new performance in particle size and ZETA potential measurement. The new protein mobility measurement module added to the software enables the Zetasizer Nano ZSP to further simplify data acquisition, user measurement guidance, and data quality assessment reports, allowing users to easily measure protein mobility. This protein mobility measurement software package is included as standard in the Zetasizer Nano ZSP instrument.

In addition to the new protein-specific measurement capabilities, the new version of Zetasizer, released in conjunction with the Zetasizer Nano ZSP, enables a completely new measurement function, microfluidometry. Microrheology is based on the principle of dynamic light scattering and requires only micro-scaled sample volumes to achieve rheological characterization of weakly-structured and responsively-sensitive materials. Applications include measuring the viscoelastic properties of polymers and protein solutions and determining the formation of protein aggregates.

The release of the new Zetasizer Nano ZSP has further enhanced the Zetasizer Nano product family, enabling the measurement of various particle size characterizations, molecular weights and ZETA potentials. For example, Zetasizer APS can measure protein size by automated sampling of multiple wells; Zetasizer μV can measure protein size and molecular weight in both single- and chromatographic modes (combined with GPC/SEC system).
