Scheme for recovery of vanadium from high calcium vanadium containing steel slag

Vanadium pig iron in the steelmaking process, the vanadium slag blown together, to give tall CaO containing 45% to 60% of the slag, called vanadium slag calcium. There are two options for recovering vanadium from this slag:

The first scheme is to return to the blast furnace for refining, and further enrich in the blast furnace to achieve about 2% vanadium in the pig iron. The vanadium-containing pig iron can be obtained by blowing 30% to 40% V ₂ O ₅ high vanadium. The slag can be used for direct refining of pig iron or as a raw material for further extraction of V ₂ O ₅ .

The second scheme is sodium oxide roasting, high calcium vanadium slag containing V ₂ O ₅ 4.68%, vanadium slag / soda ash = 100/18, after granulation in rotary kiln (outer diameter 1m, length 10m, processing capacity 2.5t / d The sodium sulphide is calcined at 1100 ° C for 2 h; after calcination, the clinker is water quenched, wet ball milled, and then leached in a mechanical stirring tank or a gas agitation tank, passed through a lime kiln gas, and carbonated at 60 ° C for 2 h, liquid-solid ratio 5/1, endpoint pH = 8.5. The pre-vanadium precipitating solution contains V5g/L, and the sulfuric acid is added to the free acid H ₂ SO ₄ to 2~3g/L. After 1.5~2h at the boiling point, the V in the clear liquid is reduced to 0.2g/L, and the red cake is obtained. The vanadium leaching rate is 76.3%, the vanadium precipitation rate is 95%, and the actual recovery rate from steel slag to red cake vanadium is 64%. The red cake contains 83.5% V ₂ O ₅ . This process is technically feasible, but the alkali consumption is high. When the V ₂ O ₅ content in the steel slag is less than 5%, the benefit is significantly reduced.
