On Saturday afternoon, October 31, 2020, the Buffalo Grove Fire Department responded to a reported dryer fire at 667 Bernard Drive. Upon arrival, emergency units encountered heavy smoke and the incident was upgraded to a Code 4 Working Fire. The fire originated inside the dryer and spread outside the appliance, filling the entire split-level home with thick smoke.

The scene included multiple units from Buffalo Grove, such as Engine 26, Engine 27, Quint 25, Squad 25, Ambulance 25, Ambulance 26, and Battalion 4. Additional support came from Long Grove Tanker 55 and Battalion 55, along with units from Arlington Heights, Prospect Heights, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Palatine, and the Buffalo Grove EMA Mobile Com Unit.

Firefighters and residents were all subject to thorough decontamination procedures and strict COVID-19 safety protocols throughout the operation. The community watched closely as crews worked to bring the situation under control and ensure the safety of everyone involved.
