At 1432 hours, the first alarm was called, followed by a still and box alarm at 1434. A 2-11 was then escalated to 1443. Fire companies were fully involved in the back porches of a 2.5-story frame structure that had spread to exposures on both sides and the alley garage. The side D exposure was a 2.5-story ordinary building, while side B had a 1.5-story ordinary. Side D also featured a frame back porch addition.
