This message is from John Tulipano: St. Charles Engine 103 and Brush 101 were called to 4000 W. Lincoln Highway (Route 38) for a potential brush fire. As they were en route, Engine 103 reported seeing a header in the sky — a sign of an approaching fire. Upon arrival, they found 10 acres of fast-moving brush fire heading west. Chief 112 arrived on scene and requested brush trucks from Batavia and Geneva. Elburn’s chief also showed up and asked for two brush trucks and a tanker from their own department. Fox River and Countryside (FRC) were also dispatched by Kane County. At the time, they were already responding to two other fires at the far northeast end of their district. Eventually, they arrived with both of their engines, a tanker, and two brush trucks.
When FRC reached the scene, they took control of the western side of the fire to protect nearby structures, including a large barn, a house, and several outbuildings. Their tanker played a crucial role, refilling Elburn, St. Charles, and their own brush units multiple times to help bring the fire under control. It was later confirmed that the fire was actually within Fox River and Countryside's jurisdiction, located at 39W962 Route 38.
