The Southtown Star recently published an article discussing the new fire chief for Chicago Ridge, following the recent resignation of the previous chief: George Sheets, the fire chief of Oak Lawn, is about to take on a new role—but he won’t be leaving his current position anytime soon. A unanimous agreement approved by the village board last Tuesday allows Sheets to continue as Oak Lawn’s chief while also managing the Chicago Ridge Fire Department through 2016. According to Oak Lawn Village Manager Larry Deetjen, the Chicago Ridge Village Board is expected to formally approve the arrangement at its meeting on July 15. Deetjen explained that Chicago Ridge Mayor Chuck Tokar initiated the idea of Sheets serving both communities. However, Tokar was unavailable for comment on Tuesday night regarding the potential transition. This development comes just weeks after Chicago Ridge Fire Chief Robert Muszynski resigned, citing “personal differences†with local officials—particularly Tokar—over proposed changes to the fire department. Several trustees have since stated that Muszynski’s resignation was encouraged by Tokar, though the board officially accepted his resignation last month. Muszynski stepped down shortly after the village board suggested that Tokar explore more efficient ways to provide firefighting and ambulance services. This has raised concerns among Chicago Ridge firefighters about potential job losses. Tokar has mentioned that options under consideration include hiring a private ambulance service or even disbanding the fire department in favor of joining a fire protection district. Last month, Christ Schmelzer, president of Chicago Ridge Professional Firefighters Local 3098, described the atmosphere at the firehouse as tense, due to Muszynski’s departure and the uncertainty surrounding the future of the department. While Deetjen didn’t comment on whether Chicago Ridge is exploring alternative firefighting or ambulance models, he did note that there are “ample opportunities to run fire departments more efficiently.†He added that he expects Sheets to quickly get up to speed, and that he will soon meet with the 13 firefighters in Chicago Ridge to “get to know them better.†thanks Dan Tantalum Carbide Powder,Hihg Purity Tac Powder,Tac Powder For Alloy Additives,Purity Tac Powder zhuzhou haokun hard materials CO.,LTD , https://www.hkmetalpowder.com
