Autodesk is set to enhance its BIM 360 platform by integrating Assemble Systems’ preconstruction software, offering a more streamlined and data-driven approach to construction project management.

SAN RAFAEL, CA, July 9, 2018 — Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) has announced the acquisition of Assemble Systems, a Salem, Massachusetts-based company that offers a cloud-based SaaS solution for construction professionals. This acquisition marks a strategic move to strengthen Autodesk’s position in the construction technology space by enhancing its BIM 360 platform with advanced preconstruction capabilities.

Assemble Systems specializes in transforming BIM data into actionable insights, enabling teams to manage bid processes, estimates, schedules, site operations, and financials with greater accuracy and efficiency. Over time, their platform will be fully integrated into BIM 360, allowing users to access and leverage BIM data across all stages of a construction project.

“Joining the Autodesk family is an exciting step forward for Assemble Systems,” said Andrew Anagnost, President and CEO of Autodesk. “By connecting design and construction data through the cloud, we’re helping make the preconstruction phase more predictable, efficient, and profitable for our customers.”

The integration of Assemble Systems into BIM 360 represents a significant advancement in how construction projects are planned and executed. With automation at the core of preconstruction, teams can now rely on real-time BIM data to improve collaboration, reduce errors, and boost productivity throughout the entire project lifecycle.

BIM 360 is designed as a collaborative, open platform that supports project teams from design to construction, regardless of location or role. It allows for seamless coordination and communication, ensuring that all stakeholders have access to the most up-to-date information at all times.

Don Henrich, CEO of Assemble Systems, added, “We’ve had a strong partnership with Autodesk over the years, and this acquisition is a natural next step. We’re excited to bring our technology into the Autodesk ecosystem, where it can have an even greater impact on the construction industry.”

With over 174 unique customers and nearly 1,000 sites working on more than 12,700 projects, Assemble Systems has already made a significant mark in the construction sector. Their tools are used by one-fourth of the ENR 400 companies, highlighting their widespread adoption and value.

This acquisition is expected to have no material impact on Autodesk’s financial guidance for the year. The transaction was financed using a mix of cash and stock, with Autodesk planning to offset the issued shares through its ongoing stock repurchase program.

As with any major acquisition, there are risks and uncertainties involved. These include the successful integration of Assemble Systems into Autodesk, potential costs, market competition, and the overall growth of the construction industry. However, both companies are confident in the long-term benefits of this partnership.
