Recently, the Yangtze Petrochemical PTA energy-saving retrofit process design package was reviewed by the Sinopec expert group. Experts said that this set of 48 national patents, 26 authorized projects, and a number of achievements to fill the domestic blank PTA complete sets of technology already have industrial transformation conditions, and it is expected to be applied to industrial production as soon as possible.

The implementation of this technology will not only greatly reduce the energy consumption and energy consumption of the old PTA equipment of Yangzi Petrochemical, but also enhance the technical content of the device. It also marks that Sinopec has already possessed the mature PTA technology of independent intellectual property rights.

For a long time, the Chinese petrochemical industry has been taking the road of introduction. Taking the PTA device as an example, since the beginning of the development of the polyester industry in China in the late 1970s, nearly 20 sets of PTA devices have been built, basically introducing foreign patented technologies. In order to change the passive situation of being technically restricted, in early 2000, the PTA localization complete technology development project was listed as the “Ten Dragon” project of Sinopec, and Yangzi Petrochemical was the leader unit of the PTA complete technology development project.

The Yangzi Petrochemical PTA plant introduced US patent technology in 1978 and was completed and put into production in 1989. It was the largest 450,000 tons/year PTA plant in China at that time. After it was put into production, Yangzi Petrochemical carried out continuous technical research and transformation on the PTA plant. In 1995, after achieving the device's compliance, Yangzi Petrochemical carried out the first round of PTA expansion and transformation, which was based on me from 450,000 tons/year to 600,000 tons/year, and formed 16 patent technologies and a number of proprietary technologies. The project results won the first prize of Sinopec Science and Technology Progress Award.

After the completion of the transformation, through joint research and technological innovation, the maximum annual output of Yangzi Petrochemical PTA plant exceeded 700,000 tons, ranking first in China.

After receiving the task of localization development of PTA complete sets of technology in 2000, Yangzi Petrochemical and Sinopec Engineering Construction Company, Shanghai Pharmaceutical Industry Design Institute, East China University of Science and Technology and Nanjing University of Technology immediately established a PTA with the leadership of the leader. The complete set of technical research leading groups and related research groups, through the tracking, querying, sorting, comparison and analysis of foreign PTA patented technologies, and the investigation of domestic imported devices, determined the research direction of localization of PTA complete sets of technology. By the end of 2003, the basic research, engineering research and supporting research work of large-scale PTA complete sets of technology were completed one after another, and passed the expert appraisal of Sinopec. After that, Yangzi Petrochemical closely paid attention to the development trend of the international PTA industry technology, and continuously enhanced and optimized the content of large-scale PTA complete technology development projects with various cooperative units, so that their own PTA complete sets of technology will be more and more perfect.

In 2004, the State Council approved Yangzi Petrochemical to build a new 450,000 tons/year PTA production line project in the original PTA plant. When negotiating with foreign companies, it was learned that foreign companies with large-scale PTA localization technology achievements in China had made concessions, which reduced the cost of introducing new production lines by 30%.

After the scale of the device is expanded, due to historical reasons such as mismatch between equipment and process, material consumption and high energy consumption have become the bottleneck restricting the competition of PTA technology. If the introduction of technology to transform existing equipment, not only must pay considerable patent fees, but also repeat the "introduction - backward - re-introduction - then backward" road. To this end, Sinopec sent a team of experts to consult the Yangzi Petrochemical PTA and agreed on a transformation plan.
