Scott Peterson was present at the 4th Alarm fire that broke out in Newport Township on Monday in Wadsworth. He managed to capture numerous images, which will be shared across multiple posts. On Tuesday, April 30, 2013, the Newport Fire Protection District received emergency calls about a fire at 14541 Juniper Court. Upon their arrival, firefighters discovered a massive amount of fire both on the roof and inside the house. The Zion ladder truck quickly arrived and was set up for water tower operations. Initially, there was only one portable tank available, with most of the water being directed to the Zion truck. As the situation worsened, the alarm was escalated from a second alarm upon arrival to a fourth alarm. This brought additional engines and tenders from MABAS Division 4 and MABAS Division 101 (Kenosha County, Wisconsin). It seemed that the Twin Lakes Fire Department was the farthest department to respond. Eventually, three portable tanks were connected in series, providing a continuous and successful flow of water without any interruptions. Considering the severe fire conditions upon arrival, the firefighters did an excellent job in containing the blaze. One of the photos captured shows the complete collapse of a significant portion of the second floor through the C division window above the back deck. More pictures of the fire, including shots of the apparatus and broader scenes, will follow soon. Attached is a photo showing the Zion ladder truck operating its master stream, taken by Scott Peterson. Another image captures the fire consuming the second floor. From the driveway on the D side, another shot highlights the extent of the damage. On the C side, a visible floor collapse can be seen in one of the photographs. The D side view reveals further devastation, while the CD corner image displays additional damage. A Bristol crew can be seen working in the C sector in one of the photos. Another angle of the C sector shows the same crew in action. At the AB corner, another photograph documents the fire's impact. Lastly, operations involving ladder pipes are captured in one of Scott's images. This fire was undoubtedly intense, requiring a coordinated effort from multiple departments to bring it under control. The images provide a detailed look at the scale of the destruction and the dedication of the firefighters involved.
