The Palos Heights Fire Protection District has recently joined MABAS Division 19, marking the completion of all department memberships within the division. This suburban fire agency operates from two stations, staffed by 22 career firefighters who cover a 4.5-square-mile area. Each station is equipped with a jump company that responds to both engine and ambulance calls. Ambulances are typically staffed by two personnel, while the officer follows in unit 6408 or 6418.
The district’s fire apparatus includes engines from American LaFrance and Pierce, while ambulances are provided by Medtec and Road Rescue. Notably, Palos Heights does not have an aerial ladder truck. However, they maintain a retired ambulance that is used for training purposes by their dive team.
A recent photo shows the headquarters station located at 12300 S. Harlem Avenue. Station 1 houses Engine 6403, a 2005 American LaFrance Eagle, which is one of the department's primary units.
