This just came in from Larry Shapiro: Firefighters were dispatched to #9 Springside Court early Saturday morning (October 22, 2016) due to reports of smoke in the basement of a single-family home. As soon as the police arrived, they noticed smoke billowing from the roof's eaves. Buffalo Grove Engine 26 confirmed the presence of smoke and upgraded the situation to a Code 4 working fire. In response, Palatine Engine 82, Long Grove Battalion 55, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51, Arlington Heights Engine 4, and Arlington Heights Ambulance 4 joined the effort, along with Buffalo Grove units that were still in the middle of shift changes. By the time the firefighters entered the house, the entire structure was filled with thick smoke. They managed to locate and extinguish the fire in the basement fairly quickly. Attached are some images taken by Larry Shapiro, capturing various stages of the incident. The first photo shows firefighters preparing to enter the house, while the second highlights heavy smoke coming out of the front door. There’s also a video embedded below, giving you a better view of the scene. ![Firefighters Prepare to Enter House on Fire](#) ![Heavy Smoke from Front Door of House on Fire](#) [Video of Fire Incident] Other photos include firefighters getting ready to ventilate the house, a fire engine hooked up to a hydrant, and a KME fire engine with lines deployed. You’ll also find an image of a large diameter hose laid out in the street and a firefighter cleaning personal protective equipment (PPE). For more visuals, check out shapirophotography.net. This is breaking news, so stay tuned for further updates as they come in. It’s always impressive to see how quickly these teams can respond and manage such situations.
