This message comes via Larry Shapiro: Earlier this morning, Buffalo Grove firefighters were dispatched to #9 Springside Court just before 8 AM on Saturday, October 22, 2016, after reports of smoke coming from the basement of a single-family home. When police officers arrived on the scene, they noticed smoke billowing from the roof's eaves. Buffalo Grove Engine 26 confirmed the presence of smoke and upgraded the situation to a Code 4 working fire. In response, Palatine Engine 82, Long Grove Battalion 55, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Squad 51, Arlington Heights Engine 4, and Arlington Heights Ambulance 4 joined the effort, along with Buffalo Grove units that were still transitioning shifts. The entire house was thick with smoke as firefighters entered the basement and swiftly extinguished the flames. [Attached Images: Firefighters preparing to enter the burning house, heavy smoke pouring out of the front door, firefighters getting ready to ventilate the structure, a fire engine connected to a hydrant, KME fire engine with hoses deployed, large diameter hose lines in the street, a firefighter cleaning personal protective equipment.] These images really capture the intensity of the situation. You can see how quickly the crews moved to control the fire and ensure everyone’s safety. It’s always impressive to watch how coordinated and efficient these teams are when they respond to emergencies like this one. For more photos, check out shapirophotography.net.
