Karl Klotz captured the scene of a house fire that occurred this afternoon in Frankfort. Here's his detailed report:
Frankfort, November 22, 2011 – A two-story frame home on Rosewood Drive was fully involved in flames when Frankfort Truck Company 2 arrived on the scene. The fire appeared to have originated in the garage area. Firefighters launched an aggressive defensive operation before entering the structure. Fortunately, no one was injured, but several cats were successfully rescued from the burning home. Companies from Frankfort, Matteson, and Manhattan also responded to the incident.
The fire was brought under control after a coordinated effort by multiple crews. Several photos taken by Karl Klotz show the aftermath of the blaze, including firefighters working to extinguish hot spots and ventilate the building. One firefighter was seen rescuing a cat from the house, though it later escaped before being recaptured. Another photo shows a Matteson firefighter helping to remove another pet from the scene.
These images provide a vivid look at the intensity of the fire and the dedication of the first responders. An extensive gallery with more photos is available for viewing.
