Melamine detection and control method in food contact materials was successfully developed

The key scientific and technological plan of the provincial science and technology plan undertaken by the Fujian Inspection and Quarantine Bureau, “Measurement, Migration, Risk Assessment, and Process Control Study of Melamine in Food Contact Materials,” was approved by the experts organized by the Provincial Department of Science and Technology. The expert group unanimously agreed that many of the research results of the project were the first reported by the international community and filled the gaps at home and abroad.

The project has established six methods for detecting the migration of melamine and its derivatives in food contact materials. The detection method has good stability, high sensitivity, low detection limit and easy operation. It has been applied in practical testing of laboratories at different levels and can meet the requirements of relevant laws and standards at home and abroad. At the same time, a multi-functional simulation migration experiment device was developed to solve the problem that food contact materials such as plates, plates, sheets, and films could not hold food simulation liquids in the simulation migration test.

According to reports, Fujian Province is a major province for the production and export of food-contact products. There are more than 100 melamine product manufacturers, with an annual export volume of 150 million U.S. dollars. The technology has broad application prospects.
