Professor Ferdinand Dudenhoeffer, a professor at the Automotive Research Center (CAR) at the University of Duisburg-Essen, Germany, said that China's electric vehicle sales this year will reach 600,000, and this has only just begun. Dudenhoeffer said: "If the Chinese government demands that electric vehicle sales account for 8% of next year and 12% by 2020, then the sales of electric vehicles in the Chinese market will reach 2 million in 2018 and 2.7 million in 2019, 2020. It is also relatively difficult for other countries in the world to account for 2% of EV sales in 2020. This shows that China will continue to be a leader in the field of electric vehicles.

However, the pace of the European market is also accelerating. According to a report released by BMI Research, “The Renault-Nissan Alliance’s electric vehicle production and sales volume has reached a certain scale. On the contrary, the FCA will not adopt a similar electric vehicle development strategy, but will only passively release new models driven by the policy. To meet emission requirements, Toyota is a newcomer to the electric vehicle industry and announced that it will launch a pure electric vehicle by 2021, but this is not a strategic target for a wide range of products."

2015 will be an important year for the realization of many car companies. Volkswagen expects sales of electric vehicles to reach 2 to 3 million by 2025, accounting for 25% of total sales; Mercedes-Benz expects to account for 15 to 25% of total sales, and electric vehicles sales between 450,000 and 750,000 units. . BMW's electric vehicles have a target of 15% to 25%, while sales are expected to increase by an additional 300,000 to 500,000 vehicles. According to BMI, Tesla expects to sell more than 1 million vehicles a year from 2020, and Porsche plans to reach 50% of electric vehicles by 2023, with about 120,000 vehicles.

BMI said that Ford will increase the sales of hybrids, plug-in hybrids and electric vehicles at the same time to advance the electrification process.

At the same time, global consulting company Alix Partners has developed a new quarterly index to track the progress of the electrification of car companies. Alix Partners multiplies the number of EVs it sells by the cruising range of electric vehicles to derive the e-range. AlixPartners uses electric vehicle mileage, sales, and market share to calculate total electric range. It is reported that this calculation method tends to be a purely electric vehicle with a longer cruising range. The hybrid vehicle is not included. The plug-in hybrid vehicle only calculates the cruising range capability of the battery. “At present, electric vehicles are becoming more and more routine, and the cruising range of more than 300 can basically meet the needs of users.”

According to the calculations, electric vehicles sold in Greater China in the second quarter of this year had a total of 14 million miles of electric cruising range. However, in the first quarter of 2013, the total mileage of vehicles sold in China was only 223,700 miles.
