In mid-2013, the Pirelli Group's tire business revenue reached 6.12 billion euros, an increase of 1.4% from 2012; the tire business's pre-tax profit (EBIT) reached 822 million euros, a slight increase of 0.1% year-on-year.

The growth of Pirelli's business in 2013 was mainly attributed to the Group's high-quality tire strategy. This business contributed 2.21 billion euros in operating income last year, an increase of 6.5% year-on-year.

In addition, Pirelli's earnings in 2013 remained stable thanks to the increase in its pricing/product mix, while the drop in raw material costs also contributed to the group's profit of 136 million euros.

Excluding the impact of exchange rates, Pirelli's tire business revenue in 2013 increased 8.6% year-on-year. The Group's tire sales in 2013 increased by 5.7% year-on-year, of which tire sales in emerging markets increased 10.2% year-on-year, in its global tire sales. The proportion is as high as 55.7%.
