We had an incredible week at Autodesk University 2020, filled with exciting updates and new tools that we’ve been working on to better serve you. Even though it was virtual, the event felt more connected than ever—thanks to new ways for you to interact with each other and with our team. One of the most thrilling moments for me this week was the announcement of our acquisition of Spacemaker. This is a big step forward for our AEC Design Solutions Group, and I’m genuinely excited about what this means for our customers. Spacemaker will bring AI-powered automation and smart design capabilities to help architects and owners make better decisions faster. The legal team reminds us that this transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to finalize during Autodesk’s fourth quarter of fiscal 2021, which ends January 31, 2021. Founded in 2016 in Oslo, Norway, Spacemaker has built a cloud-based AI platform that helps architects, urban planners, and developers optimize building sites from the very beginning. Their technology enables early-stage design optimization, which not only speeds up understanding but also encourages collaboration across all project teams. By integrating Spacemaker into our ecosystem, we’re giving our customers more time to focus on creativity while letting AI handle the heavy lifting. What makes Spacemaker stand out is their strong team—over 110 employees, with more than 60% in technical roles. Their team includes software engineers, data scientists, designers, and even practicing architects like co-founder Havard Haukeland. This blend of expertise positions them perfectly to tackle complex challenges in the AEC industry. Adding Spacemaker to our portfolio opens up new possibilities for our customers. They’ll be able to explore multiple design variations and choose the best options based on specific site criteria. In the coming months, we’ll work closely with the Spacemaker team to expand their business and integrate their technology into our existing tools, such as FormIt and Revit. This integration will create smoother workflows and enhance our sustainability analysis tools like Insight. This acquisition isn’t just about growing our product line—it's about driving more automation into our solutions and supporting the future of BIM. We're committed to empowering our users with smarter, more efficient tools that help them build better, more sustainable projects. I’m thrilled to welcome the Spacemaker team to Autodesk and look forward to continuing our shared mission of transforming the future of design. **Safe Harbor Statement** This post contains forward-looking statements that involve risks and uncertainties.
