A fire broke out on New Year’s Day at 4315 W. 25th Place, starting on the rear porches and quickly escalating into a 2-11 Alarm with an EMS Plan I. According to a report by the Chicago Tribune (HERE), six people were injured, including three Chicago firefighters. The Englewood Fire Alarm Office received multiple calls and managed to box the fire before the first responding units arrived.
Engine 99 was the first on the scene and reported that the rear porches were already engulfed in flames. Firefighters used ground ladders to rescue two residents from the second floor of the two-and-a-half-story frame building. The three injured firefighters were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Tim Olk arrived early in the incident and captured some powerful images of the fire. He has compiled a full gallery that can be viewed HERE.
